Stock judging enthusiasts will have the opportunity to test their skills at NSA North Sheep 2011, the northern region’s biennial one day event to be staged on Wednesday, 8 June at West Nubbock, Hexham by kind permission of Lewis and Helen Forster. The 17th technical event of its kind, plans are well in advance to build on its previous success to attract a crowd of more than 6,000 and 250 trade stands.

Competitors from throughout the UK are invited to enter NSA North Sheep Stock Judging, sponsored by Carrs Billington Agriculture and with over £450 at stake. Split in to four sections, gents, ladies, 25 years and under, and 18 years and under, entrants will have the opportunity to judge pens of Blackface, Bluefaced Leicester, North of England Mule, Swaledale, Texels and a novelty class. The £2 entry fee will be donated to the event’s chosen charity, the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

A second competition, NSA North Sheep Lamb Selection, is a free to enter award sponsored by Shearwell Data and to be staged on the EBLEX stand. The winner will receive £100 and the highest placed under 21 years of age, £50.

Event organiser, Julie Sedgewick comments: “Following on from the stock judging staged at previous NSA organised events which have attracted literally hundreds of entries, we are optimistic this competition will attract another turnout of enthusiasts prepared to test their skills, and who will also be contributing towards a very worthy cause.”
